about

This tracks has been created on a sunday afternoon in a couple of hours. The idea was to have it ready to play the very same evening at the Terrassa party, a legendary event on a boat in Paris. At that time i was playing there almost every sunday and it was usual to make tracks especially for this party, to get some kind of secret weapons every weekend. This is one of them and probably the most sought-after nowadays.

After playing it, it was obvious that is was a bomb and it needed a vinyl release (at that time it was not common to post tracks on the web). The track went on wax several times : first time was an RZ release, a Brique Rouge offshoot for Acid and Chicago House, mostly with illegal samples.

RZ02 was released under the name Jägermeister "Watch the Groove" and i wanted to make a dirty joke : while cutting the record i asked the engineer at Translab to cut one version with the vocal and another one without the vocal BUT it had to be on two separate grooves on the same side ! Depending on where you put the needle it starts with or without vocal and it has proven to be a nightmare to some djs. I'm still laughing to this day when Didier Sinclair played it on Radio FG just to realize while airing that the Jungle Brothers rap has vanished ! This pressing was a very limited edition and was not very pratical to play So i moved forward and cut another version.

This is the one we are talking about here, BAK01, with the original long version including Who Stole The Soul and the sax part of my track "Get On Down" released earlier on 2020vision. This is the version i originaly produced for the party in all its glory. On the flip there was a remastered and slightly retouched version of the Who Stole The Soul remix i did with Phil Weeks and released on Brique Rouge the same year.

Funny enough it is probably my best known record and my name was not written on it ! I used my Rod Baksteen's moniker (which means Brique Rouge in dutch).

In 2014 a new pressing emerged (DZ06) with the same House Ya cut (a bit shortened) and a techno version i did of "House Of God" on the flipside along with an alternate version of a remix i did for Dj Sneak.

Oddly enough and as the track was in demand, it is was also available for a short time on Defected Records when Bob Sinclar asked to include it on his "In The House" Compilation. The label cleared the acapella and my track and credited it as if Bob Sinclar was mixing the vocal on top of my music. There is a vinyl version on which they used my master but crediting the track "House Ya" and the vocal "I'll House You" separately.

lyrics

Girl, I'll house you
Girl, I'll house you
Girl, I'll house you
You in my hut now, my hut
Girl, I'll house you
Girl, I'll house you
Girl, I'll house you
You in my hut now
When you're in my hut
You know what's up
Let your mind be free
Relax your body
Jump, jump a little higher
Jump, jump until you get tired
House your body
House your body
House your body to the bass
House it all over the place
Don't let nobody in your way
Tonight's your night, today's your day
Afrika won't steer you wrong
House music all night long
(Say what?) House music all night long
(Say what?) House music all night long
(Say what?) House music all night long
I'll house you
I'll house you
I'll house you
You in my hut now
You in my hut now
Girl, I see you
Do what you do
Go on, girl, and act a fool
There's no need to play it cool
Everybody, shake your body
(We got's to make this a real house party)
Come on, come on and stick with me
I'll keep things the way they should be
Keep your house until you sweat
'Cause you ain't seen nothin' yet
House is food and you need it
If I feed it, you should eat it
Say, "House your body, house your body"
Say, "House your body, house your body"
You know, Mike G won't steer you wrong
House music all night long
(Say what?) House music all night long
(Say what?) House music all night long
House music all night long
I'll house you
I'll house you
I'll house you
You in my hut now
You in my hut now
I'll house you
I'll house you
I'll house you
You in my hut now
You in my hut now
Round and round and round and round and round and
Hear the house music steady steady poundin
Feel the energy rush up to your face
Feel the vibe, feel the vibe, feel the bass
